James Blunt Parents: Meet Charles Blount and Jane Blount

James Blunt is an English singer, songwriter and musician.

He was born on February 22, 1974 in Tidworth, Hampshire, England.

Blunt had an interest in motorbikes and airplanes, gaining his pilot’s license at age 16.

Blunt was educated at Elstree School in Woolhampton and then Harrow School, Middlesex, obtaining A-levels in physics, chemistry, and economics. He then enrolled at the University of Bristol, where he studied aerospace manufacturing engineering and sociology, graduating in 1996.

Having been sponsored through university on an army bursary, Blunt was committed to serving at least four years in the armed forces. He trained at the Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst and then was commissioned into the Life Guards, rising to the rank of captain.

In 1999, he volunteered to join a squadron that was assigned to deploy with NATO to Kosovo. He then left the army in October 2002 after serving for six years.

Blunt rose to prominence in the mid-2000s with the release of his debut album Back to Bedlam, garnering worldwide recognition with the singles “You’re Beautiful” and “Goodbye My Lover”.

By 2013, James Blunt had sold over 20 million albums worldwide.

Charles Blount and Jane Blount are the parents of James Blunt.

James’ father Charles Blount was a cavalry officer in the 13th/18th Royal Hussars and then a helicopter pilot, becoming Colonel of the Army Air Corps. He owned the Cley Windmill in Cley-next-the-Sea.

His mother Jane Blount was the owner of a ski chalet company in France.

The Blount family has a long history of military service, dating back to the 10th-century arrival of their Danish ancestors in England.

Charles Blount and Jane Blount share three children; James Blunt, Emily Blount and Daisy Blount.
